School of Public Policy
A Message from the Dean
The School of Public Policy (SPP) has a proud tradition of scholarship and a well-deserved reputation for making real contributions to the betterment of our world. Since its inception, the school has strived for excellence, both in the classroom and in its research. And its world-renowned faculty and talented students meet this challenge every day with drive, dedication, and a passion for affecting change.
The school is a leader in policy studies, particularly with respect to international commerce, regional economic development, global peacemaking, transportation, and the implications of science and technology on those areas and more. Our geographic location in Northern Virginia puts us at the cornerstone of the seat of government and one of the most thriving technology corridors in the world. Our students have access to the resources of a major university, as well as the best minds in the federal government and a dynamic local business community. We foster an energetic, collaborative learning environment that rewards initiative, risk-taking, and insight.
Our master’s degree programs and executive education courses at Mason's Arlington Campus are helping to advance careers. Our prestigious doctoral program in public policy, based primarily at our Fairfax Campus, is the largest in the field, offering superb research opportunities and flexible curricula. Whichever educational investment students choose to make, the School of Public Policy is committed to cultivating the talents of our students and faculty in ways that make us a clearinghouse for solutions, large and small.
